3:16 PM

Leaving for work in a half hour. Don't have time to really get started on anything so I use it as an excuse to do nothing.

See a photo of a ton of people outside the new Broad museum opening today in Downtown LA. The tweet explains those are protestors and not visitors to the new space. Wonder what could possibly be wrong about a new, free modern-art museum.

Google it. Art teachers criticizing Eli Broad's support of charter schools. Have to google what a charter school is. I've always been a big supporter of public schools. I went to public schools my whole life and I think I'm the better for it. Public schools are the reason diversity and tolerance are so important to me. And hard work. True, the arts programs were abysmal and it was a constant struggle to put on play (especially during football season) but that seems to be pretty much on par with the rest of the world. Public schools teach you how to navigate the bullshit.

But you don't want to hear about my public school education opinion do you?

The museum responded with such a great attitude, I'm very proud. Something about how they were an art museum that welcomes all opinions and discussion. I'm so ridiculously excited about going to this museum.

Watch a video on Quentin Taratino's visual references in his films. His work is like a collage of film. Make a note that I should watch all the movies he's referencing. (Editor's Note: When I went to type this up, the video had been taken down due to copyright by Jacob T. Swinney, who's apparently the creator of the video. I'm confused and annoyed but not surprised.)

Freak out because @RickandMorty tweet that tonight's episode is another Interdimensional Cable episode.

4:50 PM
At work. Scrolling through Facebook on my phone. Not supposed to be but what rule is gonna stop my browsing ways? Not this one. Like, five of my friends posted this article ranking our alma mater, Michigan State, the second best football team in the Nation. Fucking Ohio State is first, but as my friend Ian likes to point out: "Rivalry stops short of what's good for the conference."

Also, I see this and it makes me laugh bitterly:

College in a nutshell: football and sexual assualt.

5:40 PM

Browsing during work still. Send most to my Read Later app to devote more attention to it later.

Check out this article on the Best/Worst dressed at the Emmy's. God help me, this is a guilty pleasure. I just really like awards fashion. The only problem is the best dressed and worst dressed appear to be mixed in with no delineation so how will I ever determine which is which?

8:40 PM

Pull up my browser from earlier with the tweet from @RickandMorty still up. The GIF isn't working so I click through to see all Rick and Morty's tweets. Top tweet shows it's renewed for Season 3! Take a video of the GIF for tonight's episode and send it to my friend TJ on Facebook and we congratulate ourselves on another confirmed season.

9:55 PM

Load up my read later list and click through the articles.

Check an article from the LACMA on Noah Purifoy's exhibit. Never heard of his work before. Something catches my eye: he was a founding director of the Watts Towers Art Center. The Watts Towers are one of my favorite things that I've looked at and loved since I was young. Kind of like the Titanic. Purifoy was most famous for his exhibit 66 Signs of Neon, art pieces made from debris from the Watts Riots. Tell Nic we should go to the library tomorrow and go to the LA Public Library website.

10:09 PM

Interrupted by friend Ian on Facebook to look at the description he wrote for our most recent episode of We Didn't Start the Podcast.

10:12 PM

Did not disappoint.

10:14 PM

The library has a copy of Junk Art: 66 Signs of Neon, but it's in the folio so I can't check it out. Kind of a bummer but I'll just have to spend an afternoon in the library.

Checked out an article I saved about the Principles of Swiss Design from PRINT magazine. Some really awesome examples of Swiss design through modern band posters. I note how the photo carousel on the website has "next" on the left side and "previous" on the right and how awful of a design that is. I also note it's called PRINT magazine and not UX/UI magazine. Struggle with myself over the fact that that was funny to me because I'm a designer and the fact that it's not funny to anyone else in the world.

Because of the last thing that happened, I decided not to watch the web series pilot called "Home/Office" about a freelance graphic designer.

2:22 PM -

Boyfriend is on the computer writing so I switch to my ancient Macbook Pro. Have to Force Quit everything but Chrome and Stickies. I have way too many stickies so I try to contain them in some way.

Go directly to Twitter. I always scroll back to an hour from now and start there. I mean, I'm only human. Watch the new Mockingjay Part 2 trailer. I've read all the books and seen the first two movies but I'm behind. Still, it's a great trailer.

Something reminds me to look up where the meme "Reunited and It Feels So Good..." came from. Google it but just get a bunch of articles that are titled "Reunited and It Feels So Good". No "Know Your Meme" or anything. But a Youtube Video by Peaches & Herb. I try to figure out if that's a shadow or his actual facial hair. I guess this song is the origin of the phrase but it's hard to believe because I've never seen it before and it also just seems to be a weird thing for the Internet to latch onto. That is actually his facial hair.

Almost get fooled by a promoted tweet. Almost.

Click another tweet from TimeOut Los Angeles about a car opera from the same people who did Invisible Cities. Click through to a link about LA being the second most congested city in the US. No surprise there. The first is Washington DC. Bit of a surprise there.

My CNN app on my phone lights up. The best-selling novelist Jackie Collins has died from breast cancer. I go to look up who she is with a hint of shame.

Oh. Okay.

Check out a HOWDesign listicle on Poster Designs. There's no way I wasn't going to.

Fav a tweet by comic artist Stejpan Seijic about a new series he's working on so I can check it out later on.

See another listicle, this time on simple tattoo with a lot of meaning. I don't have any tattoos and probably won't get any because my dad never liked them. That's my tribute to him. Instead of getting a tattoo in his memory, I will stop myself from getting a tattoo. But it's still fun to think about. One tattoo reads "timshel" and the caption explains it's a quote from the John Steinbeck novel "East of Eden". It means "thou mayest" which symbolizes free choice. This seems like the type of thing people right essays about, but this caption wraps it up so nicely.

5:03 PM -

Take a breather and talk to my boyfriend about the new blog I'm starting. We brainstorm ideas. Came up with a clickbait title for when it gets super popular: "Girl Documents Browsing Habits for 30 days -- And the Results are STUNNING".

5:33 PM -

Decide to play Pokemon Puzzle League with Boyfriend. We come up with an idea to start a podcast where we play Pokemon Puzzle League and talk the whole time. Call it PoJokemon.

10:17 PM -

Skype with friend in Janesville, WI. He found an awesome video share platform so we can all watch The Phantom Menace together because it was worse than he remembered and he could only get through the first half hour without us. It's my first viewing. My God, this movie is bad. And racist. The pod racer scene is pretty cool though.
